Google Shielded Email feature may help to hide email addresses ; Testing
Google is working on a new feature that will protect user privacy when using apps that ask for an email address. The news has been confirmed by strings of code spotted in one of the company’s apps. The feature could also provide an additional layer for encryption and authentication. The feature is being added to enhance the privacy of sensitive data and communications.
This feature called Shielded Email is currently in development and will allow users to share email address “aliases” when signing up for apps or newsletters. The feature has been spotted by Android Authority and Assemble Debug with Google Play Services version 24.45.33. APK.
This feature will allow users to keep their email address private by generating email aliases. The feature is capable of protecting its users from “online tracking and data breaches.” It will also be able to forward emails to the user’s actual inbox.
This feature may soon integrate the Shielded Email feature with its Autofill functionality on Google Android smartphones. This autofill setting shows a new icon that depicts an email with a blue tag and the Google logo.
On the other hand, this feature is already located in Apple’s Hide My Email, but this feature is available only to iCould+ subscribers. There is no confirmation on the rollout of this new shielded email feature for Google users. It is expected that this feature will be available to premium users first.
