bThe US Justice Department is intensifying its efforts against Google and is also forcing it to sell the Google Chrome browser. The US Justice Department may be violating antitrust laws by using its monopoly in online search to outperform Google’s competitors.

In October, the Justice Department may propose several measures to the judge to address Google’s monopoly on online search. On the other hand, the brand mentioned the separation of Android and Google Chrome, a proposal that the brand had requested to be dismissed.

According to Bloomberg, the DOJ has finalized its requests to the judge, and all these recommendations can also be brought out publicly on Wednesday. Google’s selling Chrome can also be a big blow to the brand, as this search engine is used globally. The decision can also be disappointing for the brand.

Google represents an important access point through which many people use this search engine. There are questions about how it will work without Google Chrome. The decision could have a negative impact on the underlying Chromium codebase. Google previously stated that “separating Google Chrome or Android would break them up.”

A Bloomberg report claimed that “antitrust officials have backed away from a more serious option that could force Google to sell Android.” On the other hand, separating from Google would also separate the Android smartphone operating system from some of its other producers, including Google and its Google Play mobile app store.

The brand’s recommendations include licensing Google Search data and results and allowing some websites to opt for AI training. Many other details are also expected to be available this week. The case will be heard in April 2025, and a final decision is expected in August.
