Instagram Introduces Reset Content Recommendations and Enhanced Privacy Controls for Teens
Instagram is making a lot of changes for some time now that have brought a lot of new features to the users. Now, the brand will also allow them to reset their content recommendations and essentially restart the algorithm that sees posts and videos in their feed.
However, this change is currently available for testing but will soon be rolled out globally. This feature is designed to give users more control over how much content they can see in their Instagram feed based on their interests. Apart from this, Instagram has also announced new privacy controls.
This privacy control will allow teen users to choose the topics they want to see regularly. Instagram already asks permission from people, whether they are interested in these videos or not. As soon as the user likes the post related to these, then the same kind of posts and videos appear in their feed.
Resting these recommendation algorithms will also give users a chance to review the accounts they follow and the option to unfollow them. The Meta clarified in a blog post on Tuesday that “we want to make sure everyone on Instagram—especially teens—has a safe, positive, age-appropriate experience and feels that the time they spend on Instagram is valuable.” “We want to give teens new ways to shape their Instagram experience so that it reflects their passions and interests as they continue to evolve.”.
Instagram has always recommended entertainment-related content as it is able to increase the time young people spend on its app and also make other suggestions. It helps users go “viral” according to their content, and it also shows them all the content they don’t follow.
More than a billion people use Instagram worldwide, and many of those users are also very young, for which the brand has come up with a different suggestion. Through this new feature, all the parents can also control the feed and timing of their teens, who watch hours of video content every day.
