Samsung Is Ditching Samsung Message For Google Messages
Samsung has confirmed that it is switching to Google Messages as the default messaging app on phones as the brand is taking this step to adopt new things faster in its devices and to provide a more robust and engaging messaging experience. This new feature will be limited to the US only for now.
Samsung Replacing Samsung Messages with Google Messages
Samsung has recently announced that it is removing the preloaded messaging app on its devices starting with Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6. Instead, the company will preload Google Messages on the upcoming phones. The brand has also revealed its reasons for taking this decision –
According to a Samsung spokesperson, “This rollout is currently limited to the US only and we expect to share more details in the coming months.”
Additionally, it can be speculated that RCS is the successor to the SMS standard that allows sending and receiving over the Internet. RCS brings in features like high-quality media sharing, voice notes, typing indicators, and more. However, the adoption of Google Messages supports a new generation of texting for users which could also become a more streamlined and intuitive approach for interested consumers.
Google Messages currently lags behind Samsung Message in terms of sending/receiving images but it is expected to be fixed soon. Currently, if users want to use Samsung Messages, it will let them do so but this feature may not be available after some time.
