Google Maps Introduces AR to Showcase the History of Paris
For this new feature, Google Maps is now using AR to show you the history of the city and some of its iconic sites. It is also capable of showing old pictures of monuments, etc., at any place. Paris has been chosen first in this, and the city of Paris also has a rich history.
Google Maps Uses AR to Show Paris History
Most of this city is preserved through historical sites, and the rest is also famous for museums and other parts for sports. However, using augmented reality (AR) in Google maps, you will now be able to show part of that history while exploring the city.
Besides this, Google can also tell better sites that are available in other weather conditions. This new feature is going to be expanded more over time. We can also see this new feature in the company’s picture, which shows another version of the Eiffel Tower conceived for the 1900 World Expo.
The experience also includes viewing pavilions built along the banks of the Seine and reconstructed parts of the city from the 1700s, including the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral. According to Google, the experience is available as a part of Google Arts and Culture and was created in collaboration with Unisoft. More features will be made available shortly.
