Google Photos is rolling out a new tab called “Collections” and it aims to make finding content easier than ever”. The brand had previously rolled out a grid of 10 albums in the tab, including favorites and your camera roll. On the other hand, the tab is sortable by a carousel of filters at the top, allowing you to easily view all of your albums, on device and shared albums all at once.

Google Photos Collection Redesign

This 10-album design was rolled out for a while before Google pulled it back. After that, users will be able to revisit “Collections” instead of the library, as the third tab in the bottom bar uses the same icons as before. Access to favorites and trash is also added at the top, along with a new pill-shaped button.

Part of the 2×2 grid is dynamic and will be based on the items you navigate to the most, but the locked folder will not appear as a tile to the user. The biggest change is that the “Photos on device” carousel is replaced with a folder called “on this device”. The rest of this tab will no longer be included in the grid of cloud albums.

You will need to tap a separate “Albums” folder first. You can see the last modified album title and most recent photos via “Sort By”. The collection includes a separate “people & pets” folder, documents and locations. The lists include Favorites, Screenshot, Videos, Recently Added, Collections, Locked and Trash. Google Photos removed the utility folders.

These features, collections, and search redesign will soon be more widely used for Google Photos for Android and iOS, with version 6.93. Here are some other features which the brand develops, and users can use these features to follow these instructions –

  • Locked folder – tap on collections, and at the bottom, click on the locked.
  • Import photos – at the top, please tap on the +, select and get photos, and import them to the other place.
  • Make a new creation – click on the + and then type of your choice, such as albums, collages, animations, etc.
