Google Confirmed the Release Timeline of Android 16
The details teased by Google confirmed that Android 16 will be released in the first half of 2025. Google rolled out Android 15 for its Pixel Phones in October this year. In this new Android 16, the company may come with app stability improvements and many new features.

According to the Android Developers Blog, the company may make a major release in Q2 2025, and after that, a smaller release will be released in the fourth quarter. This decision was taken in view of better coordination with the schedule of device launches. This OS 16 roll out to eligible devices soon.
According to Google, this new update will include behavioural changes through a major SDK release in Q2 2025. After this, Google will roll out incremental updates in Q3 2025. A minor Android 16 SDK will be released in Q4 2025. These releases will include new APIs and features.
These posts indicate that OS 16 will soon be tested on select devices so that some of the problems arising from the update can be fixed soon. However, there are about five months left until the launch of Android 16.
This new update was first seen in the Google Pixel 9 series, unveiled earlier this year. This smartphone received the Android 15 update on October 15. After this, the device will soon get Android 16. However, in the meantime, the brand can launch the Pixel 10 series in 2025, which may come with the latest operating system version.
