Google Maps is constantly evolving to provide an intuitive, aesthetically pleasing functional experience to users. Recently, Google Maps on Android has introduced a significant change to its user interface—a shift to the blue color scheme. Prior to this, Google Maps recently updated its UI to include brighter colors for phone and desktop users.
Google Maps New Colors Interface
The new update is expected to be released for both iPhone and Android devices, and it includes a change to the “New Tab” button to light green, along with several other changes. The directions button will now appear in teal instead of blue, and the “View all” text and “Add Post” button have also changed to teal. The update also brings a change to the dark theme, replacing all shades of blue and light blue with more or less lighter shades of aqua green.
The new feature is being rolled out gradually and has been seen through both Google Maps version 11.148.0105 and version 11.149.0101. This is an exciting change for Android that could mark a move towards dynamic colors and personalization in Google’s apps. It allows users to fully customize the Google Maps experience as Google continues to evolve its design language.
The blue theme in Google Maps can be seen throughout Google’s ecosystem and seems to be an attempt to add some freshness to the overall design change that ensures a consistent and seamless user experience across all apps. Additionally, this change reflects Google’s desire to maintain a similar look across Android and Google services to make integrations between different apps more seamless and more visually consistent.
The previous updates include the following changes:
- Roads: Gray
- Water: Bright Green Blue
- Parks: Blue Green
- Food and drinks: orange and gold
- Shopping: Royal Blue
- Services: Lavender ‘
- Entertainment: Turquoise
- Outdoor activities and places – Green
